Calvert launches Women INvesting in Women INitiative (WIN-WIN)

The Calvert Foundation has announced the launch of the Women INvesting in Women INitiative (which it calls WIN-WIN), which will invest at least $20 million in high-impact organizations and projects worldwide that create opportunities for women lacking access to traditional credit and funding sources.

We know what happens when women become agents of their own economic power. Through the organizations we support, women get the opportunity to improve their lives through access to credit and critical services like child care and housing. Increasingly, the source of that credit is coming from impact investors.

GOP War on Women

Americans Love Public Transit

One of the GOP’s recent favorite tactics is to take an issue that is fundamentally non-controversial and non-partisan and make it into a partisan issue. They did it with raising the debt ceiling, which has been raised under every president except for Truman. The latest target was public transportation, which enjoys strong bi-partisan and public support. As we highlighted earlier, the House GOP wanted to stop all dedicated funding to public transportation. And, like the debt ceiling fiasco, there was a huge backlash against it and GOP leaders have now stripped the provision ending public transit funding.
