NYC opens full-service LGBT senior center

New York is opening what the city's officials are billing as the nation's first full-service center for seniors who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender.

City officials say the new LGBT facility will be specifically geared to the needs of this segment of the population, whose members sometimes feel isolated from other seniors. The center in Manhattan's Chelsea neighborhood is to open in January.

Obama administration introduces Consumer Privacy Bill of Rights

Today, President Obama's administration introduced the Consumer Privacy Bill of Rights, a sweeping seven point document that seeks to protect Americans' privacy as they use the internet. The seven points are:

Obama Administration Prosecutes Dallas doctor in $375-million Medicare fraud case

Federal law enforcement officials announced what they called the largest healthcare fraud case in the nation’s history, indicting a Dallas-area physician for allegedly bilking Medicare for nearly $375 million in billings for nonexistent home healthcare services.

Top Justice Department officials, working for several years to stem a rampant rise in healthcare fraud around the country, also revealed Tuesday that 78 home health agencies that were working with the physician, Dr. Jacques Roy, will be suspended from the Medicare program for up to 18 months.
