Facebook to hire thousands, sees fast growth

(Reuters) - Facebook, the social networking giant that is preparing to go public, said it plans to hire thousands of employees over the next year to keep up with what it expects to be rapid growth.
"We are growing very quickly and have been through the economy," Facebook Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg said at a press conference. When asked if she asked that continue, she said: "That's what we are betting on."

Meet Tom & Lila: Two Very Thankful Volunteers

We recently caught up with two of our hardest working volunteers in the state. Tom and Lila both have more than 30 years combined of service for the Democratic Party, as well as supporting President Obama from the beginning. Tom, born and raised in Cleveland,OH detailed what inspired him the most to volunteer, and why he's so thankful.
Whenever I was out of work, I felt I had to be a part of something, and it so happened I decided to be a part of the change through supporting and campaigning with President Obama.
Lila, also born and raised in Cleveland,OH, shares in Tom's inspiration and added why it's so important for her to stay involved in the campaign.

Hiring: Menchie's

Anyone who says small businesses aren't hiring, hasn't met Cameron Garner.

Garner co-owns three Menchie's frozen yogurt franchises and has another three locations in various stages of construction. By yearend, he expects to own six. And by the end of next year, he expects to have 10 locations between Seattle and Portland.

Garner employs 55 people, including 20 full-timers. And for the opening of the next location, he has added another 18 jobs bringing his headcount to 73, including 25 full-timers.

Obama Administration :: $749 Million to Fund Housing for Low-Iincome Seniors & the Disabled

WASHINGTON – Thousands more very low-income senior citizens and persons with disabilities will have access to affordable supportive housing thanks to $749 million in housing assistance announced today by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). These grants will help non-profit organizations produce accessible housing, offer rental assistance, and facilitate supportive services for the elderly and persons with disabilities.
