Facebook teams with Department of Labor to help the unemployed find jobs

Facebook, the U.S. Department of Labor, and some other organizations are partnering to help jobless people in the country find employment through social networks.

The department also plans to reach out to other social networks including Twitter and LinkedIn, said Labor Secretary Hilda L. Solis at a conference Thursday that was also streamed from the Facebook office in Washington D.C.

Nissan's 10-Minute Car Charger Could Change The Electric Vehicle Landscape

Electric vehicles may be cleaner than gasoline-powered cars and cheap to charge, but they come with a major downside: It takes a lot of time to juice them up. But what if EVs could be charged up in the time it takes to go to the bathroom and run into a convenience store for a snack? Nissan is reportedly working on a charger that can juice up an EV in just 10 minutes. It's the kind of thing that could move EVs from the fringe squarely into the mainstream.

As it stands, charging times for EVs vary from up to eight hours all the way down to 30 minutes (to charge a vehicle like the Nissan Leaf to 80% capacity). Ultra-fast chargers are generally not installed in homes because of the large amount of electricity they require.

American Jobs Act by the Numbers: $7 Trillion

Restaurants are super-sizing their nutritional disclosures

Wendy's has a gluten-free menu. Dunkin' Donuts offers kosher meals at dozens of eateries. Chipotle Mexican Grill is letting customers know that it uses bacon in preparing its pinto beans.

Americans are craving more information about the food they are served, and fast-food companies, as well as casual restaurants, are increasingly obliging, many going well beyond legally mandated calorie counts.

They are updating their signs and menus for diet-conscious customers, and they also are highlighting potential problems for those with food allergies or other dietary restrictions.
