Within Six Months, I-5 Will Be The Electric Interstate

Live near I-5, and have a Nissan Leaf or Chevy Volt? Your luck is in: Within six months all 276 miles of the interstate between Canada and Oregon will be peppered with electric charging points for your car of the future, in a project that'll turn it into the electric interstate of the 21st Century. A small section of U.S. 2 in Washington State will also get the same treatment.

Hi-Tech Farm 's Grows 100 Tons Of Greens On The Roof Of A Brooklyn Warehouse

Gotham Greens, the country's first commercial urban rooftop  is an impressive, 15,000 square-foot facility atop a two-story warehouse in Greenpoint, Brooklyn that aims to grow 100 tons of produce a year.

The state-of-the-art greenhouse uses a hydroponic system, meaning there's no soil involved.
Gotham Greens harvested the first of its veggies in May and they're already selling out at upscale Manhattan grocers like Whole Foods and Mario Batali's Eataly, co-founder Viraj Puri told us. And the company will soon start selling directly to chefs at local restaurants.

Stimulus: $7.8 Million in Economic Recovery Funding to Refurbish the Fixed Wheel Gates of Folsom Dam in California

Secretary of the Interior Ken Salazar announced today that the Bureau of Reclamation has awarded a $7.8 milliion contract under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) to refurbish the fixed wheel gates and appurtenances at Reclamation’s Folsom Dam in California.The refurbishment will be performed by Abide International, Sonoma, Calif. The company will rehabilitate three fixed wheel gates and sets of gate stems, including installing new wheels, seals and seal clamp bars, new hydraulic operating systems and electrical systems, and new monitoring systems.
