AAA Is Now Providing Emergency Electric-Vehicle Charging Services To Stranded Drivers

If your EV stutters to a halt while you're cruising down the highway, call the same people who fix flats on your regular car. And more mobile charging options may soon be coming to your street.

Range anxiety--the fear that your electric car will run out of power while you're driving--is a mostly unfounded worry. After all, there are now a slew of maps and apps to help drivers find charging stations on the quick (and when was the last time you ran out of gas?). Factories busier in June after spring slump

NEW YORK (AP) — U.S. factory activity picked up in June after a sluggish May, helped by lower gas prices and some easing of supply disruptions. The stronger reading was an optimistic sign that the economy could be strengthening after a spring slump.

Stocks jumped after the report was released. The Dow Jones industrial average rose 152 points in midday trading, and broader indexes also rose.
"This is additional evidence that the recent slowdown in economic activity was temporary," said Steven Wood, chief economist for Insight Economists. "However, the strength of the recovery is an open question given other factors."

USDA: Texas wetland restoration could be model for Gulf

BAYTOWN, Texas — Brown pelicans, long-necked egrets, flamingo-like roseate spoonbills and squawking seagulls fly lazily around a Texas Gulf Coast island. Nearby, a toddler-aged wetland seeded with marsh grass completes the ecosystem, its thousands of inhabitants unaware their home is a manmade creation dredged from the Houston Ship Channel.

It's all part of a 20-year-old project to restore lost wetlands and islands off the Texas coast. The federal government is hoping it could become a model for rebuilding these crucial ecosystems elsewhere in the five-state Gulf region.
