Seven years ago, after leading the initial campaigns in Afghanistan and Iraq, General James Mattis, now the commander of U.S. Central Command, called on the Department of Defense to “unleash us from the tether of fuel.”President Obama has called on the country to “transform the way that we use energy—diversifying supplies, investing in innovation, and deploying clean energy technologies.” By transforming DoD’s energy use, we can create a military force that is better able to project and sustain power around the world, in support of our mission—to protect the American people.

- Recession wasn’t created overnight, & won't be solved overnight
- What can Congress do RIGHT NOW?
- We can’t get to the $4 trillion in cuts with Domestic spending or Medicare cuts, we need to address tax code
- Get rid of are tax breaks for millionaires and billionaires; tax breaks for oil companies and hedge fund managers and corporate jet owners
- Nobody wants to see the United States default.
- My expectation is that Leaders are going to lead
- Everybody else has done the tough things, Republicans need to make a deal.
- Are Republicans willing to compromise their kids’ safety so that some corporate jet owner continues to get a tax break.
- We have done exactly what I said we would do. We have not put any boots on the ground.
- We cannot discriminate as a country against people on the basis of sexual orientation

- We've got to be able to walk and chew gum at the same time
- Streamlining regulations could save billions of dollars for companies over the next several year
