Voices of Health Reform: Gail’s Story

President Obama made a surprise call to Gail O’Brien, a woman in Keene, NH, who is benefiting from the Affordable Care Act, which was passed six months ago today. Gail was previously uninsured and diagnosed with high grade non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma.



Thanks to the new law, Gail now has insurance through the new Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan that will pay for her treatments, and she is responding very well.

Stimulus: CORHIO awarded 1.7M to improve care coordination for hospital and long term care patients

DENVER, Colo. – January 28, 2011 – CORHIO, the Colorado Regional Health Information Organization, has been awarded $1.7 million by the Health Information Exchange (HIE) Challenge Grant Program run by the Office of the National Coordinator for Health IT (ONC). CORHIO was selected for innovation in the area of care improvement and cost reduction for patients transitioning between hospitals, long-term care facilities and other post-acute care providers.

Abdel ::  studied at the Maritime Academy in Alexandria and spends an average of eight months a year on a ship.

Farid ::  is a pharmacist, father of six, and member of the Muslim Brotherhood, the 83-year-old Islamist opposition group banned by the Mubarak regime.

Jasmine :: A Cairo University graduate, she plans to work in law and currently interns at the Center for Egyptian Women's Legal Assistance.
 
Karim :: a Cairo-based businessman and the son of Egypt's former ambassador to Tokyo.

Mohammad :: a 5th grade teacher who wants to improve the educational system in Egypt,
