Stimulus: local digital literacy programs in 19 regional workforce boards

“Workforce Florida Inc., in its ongoing efforts to strengthen Florida’s workforce, today announced it has awarded more than $4 million to enhance local digital literacy initiatives through 19 of the state’s 24 Regional Workforce Boards.

Stimulus: Alameda Alameda’s Fire Department uses Recovery Act Grant to hire 6 firefighters

On July 19, the federal government awarded the Alameda Fire Department $1.7 million in American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds to hire firefighters. The department plans to use the money to hire six firefighters for a two-year period. The money is coming from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Staffing for Adequate Fire and Emergency Response (SAFER) program.
