The city of Phoenix received $35.5 million in federal funds for citywide transportation projects.
The money came through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act and construction on hundreds of projects throughout the city will take place this summer.
“These federal dollars are creating local jobs and improving the safety and efficiency of Phoenix streets,” said Wylie Bearup, director of the city’s Street Transportation Department. “We appreciate the patience and extra caution of drivers impacted by these construction projects.”
