MOBILE, Ala. -- The University of South Alabama will help doctors statewide transition to electronic record-keeping, thanks to a $7.5 million federal grant.
Electronic records give doctors quicker access to patient information, according to Dr. Dan Roach, the grant's principal investigator.
Funded through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, the grant came through the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Awarded to the Center for Strategic Health Innovation in USA's College of Medicine, the grant is one of the largest in the university's history, according to USA officials.
