Stimulus: summer youth program offer 1,450 positions to 16-24 year olds in Alabama

The Governor's Office of Workforce Development (GOWD), the Department of Human Resources (DHR), the Department of Industrial Relations, and the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs are partnering to facilitate a Summer Youth Employment Program through the Alabama Career Center System for the 65 county Local Workforce Investment Area (LWIA), excluding Jefferson and Mobile counties.


The program is funded under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) stimulus funds through the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA), and with funds from the Emergency Temporary Assistance to Needy Families (TANF) through DHR.
